ROSALIND ANNIS
The Rosalind Annis Studio

The Past

Rosalind Annis is a well known and established pastel artist living and working in the Holme Valley at the foot of the Pennines.
Originally Rosalind trained as a Landscape Architect at the Leeds School of Architecture and in her early career worked with tropical plants to create indoor environments in a number of public places through out the UK. Her passion for art had been a hobby and in 1994 developed into a true focus for her with the opening of the Rosalind Annis Gallery in the centre of Holmfirth.
Over the last 18 years Rosalind has developed her talent by creating paintings using her favourite medium of pastels both for exhibitions and commissions.
She is a regular exhibitor at the Holmfirth Artweek and has established her fringe exhibition as one of the best venues supporting the main artweek exhibition.
In recent years she has exhibited at venues in Leeds, Manchester and York.
The Present

Rosalind now works from her home studio overlooking the splendid rugged scenery of Pennine Yorkshire.
Her subject matter is diverse with her focus on creating a painting using the depth and vibrancy of colour that can be achieved using pastels. She enjoys using the contrast of light and shade to create paintings of seascapes, buildings, still life, landscapes or elements within the landscape.
Rosalind's style has developed during her career and continues to evolve with her love and appreciation of the pastel medium allowing her to create new and exciting work.
In July 2012 Rosalind accpeted an invitation to exhibit as featured artist at the Holmfirth Artweek where she presented an outstanding exhibition of over 30 originals. She followed this with an autumn exhibition at the Millyard Gallery in Saddleworth, Oldham.
More recently Rosalind aswell as volunteering on the Holmfirth Artweek committee is tutoring adult art classes at the North Light Art Studios Armitage Bridge, Honley.
